Azizul Hasni Awang telah berjaya memenangi pingat gangsa buat pertama kalinya bagi skuad Malaysia dalam temasya Olimpik acara lumba basikal apabila memenangi tempat ketiga acara akhir Keirin pada hari kesembilan temasya Olimpik Rio.

Dia mampu mengalahkan tiga orang lain bagi tempat ketiga namun tewas tipis kepada pemenang pingta perak dari Belanda, Matthijs Buchli dan juara pingat emas dari Great Britain, Jason Kenny. Kini Malaysia telah menyamai kedudukan pungutan pingat terbanyak Malaysia iaitu 1 perak dan 1 gangsa.


Namun masih ada beberapa pingat yang belum pasti warnanya sudah dalam genggaman, sekaligus akan memperbaiki pungutan pingat di olimpik London empat tahun lalu.

Terlebih dahulu, pemain Beregu Negara, Tan Wee Kiong dan Goh V Shem telah berjaya memasuki perlawanan akhir bagi merebut pingat Emas pertama Malaysia. Mereka berjaya menewaskan pasngan dari China Chai Biao-Hong Wei dan akan bertemu dengan satu lagi pasangan China, Fu Hai Feng-Zhang Nan.
